Update Version 13 - Evolved 1.8.3 Expansion

Update Version 13 - Evolved 1.8.3 Expansion

Hello Evolved Community,

We initially promised that the upcoming patch would be based on 2 fundamental additions, which are the missing (Ψ)Sanctified skills and Dawnlight Halls. However, we are very sorry to inform you, that we weren't able to fix a very important segment of Dawnlight Halls (Dice room) and couldn't YET figure out what the issue might be. However, the concept of this Dungeon will surely surpass every farming concept we ever produced within the last 5 years and we are eagerly waiting to fix this issue and release the new Dungeon (Tome refining linked to it) as soon as possible.

Those were the rather unpleasent news, lets talk about something rather refreshing, which we came up with as a form of "compensation" for the missing but promised Dungeon. Talking and explaining is quite easy, so how about we simply show you below what we came up with? Lets go.

Skill Corrections

Technician & Edgerunner

After it was pointed out quite often before, and finally very detailed by the member "nvm" on Discord, we have decided, after monitoring very closely and detailed the PVP scenery, that the multi-shot skills:

  • Murderous Indulgence (All levels) - Technician
  • Blade Hell (All levels) - Edgerunner

Are clearly over-performing. The Staff has discussed for quite a while the whole situation but most importantly whether it should reveal the formula behind the skill(s), risking to offer other servers benefiting in the future from our long and exhausting investigation and conclusion/evaluation and proper applicaton of the correct formula and we've decided to present it below partially so our players have at least a legit transparency to better understand our final decision:

  • Murderous Indulgence (Example)

Before: Base damage + (400% of Base damage/9) = 144% base damage per shot
Note: This skill has done more than x3 the damage its supposed to do (per shot)!

How it should be (After): 400% of base damage/9 = 44% base damage per shot
Note: This formula is purposely kept simplistic for previously mentioned reasons, its far more complex but accurately executed. You will realize its accurate to the skills description and feel free to compare each shot (proportional to endgame situations) on PWI itself.

Obviously we understood the concerns of players that reached out to us regarding this change, especially in the PVE section of Technician and Edgerunner and responded accordingly. More about our response below!

Blademaster & Technician

  • The Roar of the Pride was reverted to its original version, removing the custom applied knock-down/paralyze stun.

The skill will now (Default): Stun + Disarm.

  • Fata Morgana it wont apply double hits/double damages anymore to targets if the Technician uses an AoE skill.

Archer & Technician PvE Set
(Rank 9 Fourth Cast)

Since we weren't really capable to determine the issue previously for quite a long time (admittedly), we have decided to give in return a small but impactful adjustment that serves as a compensation for the previous re-evaluation of the skills in form of the following change:

The following Sets:

  • Sun Awakener - Set (PvE): Technician
  • Sky Splitter - Set (PvE): Archer

Have got their (6) Bonus set stat changed from Cascaded Doom to Ravaging Sky Lord - "Your attacks have a chance to deal double damage, at no cost of your Maximum Health"

This change will return the damage aspect of Technician in the PvE field, which was by our community pointed out as their biggest concern. It will also serve as an experimental change for the class Archer to attempt establishing the class within the top-performers on the PvE field.

Staff Commentary: Skills (Future Balance Patch)

The Evolved Staff has always valued transparency, and we intend to continue following that principle. For this reason, we have dedicated a specific section within these Patch Notes to address upcoming adjustments related to skills. Over the past 18 years, Perfect World International has introduced numerous skill changes, including buffs and nerfs. As a result, some skill descriptions found on external websites such as PWPedia may not fully reflect older skill on our server. To resolve inconsistencies and ensure clarity moving forward, we have decided to implement a major update following this patch. This update will bring all skills to version 1.8.3, regardless of whether they are considered buffed or nerfed on the latest version, ensuring alignment with that official version. We also aim to include Dawnlight Halls and Tome Refinement in this update, if possible. We have chosen this approach because it provides a clearer, more comprehensive, and more professional foundation for balancing the game at its peak end-game stage in the future.

In summary: All skills will be updated to match version 1.8.3 to ensure consistency with the original game. Afterward, we will open a public discussion and review each class together with the community to determine which skills may require further adjustments, buffs, or nerfs. We believe this is the most reasonable and structured way to evaluate balance properly and professionally, and we are confident that our community will understand and support this decision.

Newbie Progression
(Re-worked)

Evolved PWI has listened to the recent suggestions regarding the gear gap between Lv.40 items (given as freebies) and Rank 9 (being and remaining the end-game gear).

We've decided to add new FREE items all up to Lv.85.

Before: Minister Set (Lv.1~10) -> Duke Armor (Lv.20~30) -> Royal Armor (Lv.40)

New: Minister Set (Lv.1~10) -> Duke Armor (Lv.20~30) -> Royal Armor (Lv.40) -> Blooded Honor | Foghide Blade | Etherdance Morrow (Lv.55) -> Beastlord Roar | Darknight Massacre | Total Salvation (Lv.70) -> Sunset Flash | Skyshake Edge | Redflame Cloud (Lv.85)

These new armor sets available in the Growth System will be available for every character created after this patch.

This new system of free gear will perfectly close the gap between the previous Lv.40 gear that kept newbies powerless, allowing them to step up either to:

  • Morai Armor -> Shade's Embrace: Genesis (Lv. 101 Gear)
  • Rank 9 First Cast (Lv.101 Gear) -> Rank 9 Fourth / Third Cast (Lv.101 Endgame Gear)

The first progression line being rather PVE based and farmable completely solo/solo-able. While the traditional Rank 9 progression line remains intact at the same time.

Bard (Tideborn Race)

  • Added a new Class: Bard

Lore: The Bards are wanderers born from harmony itself, their melodies woven into the ancient fabric of Perfect World. Long before the rise of great kingdoms, it was said that the first Bard heard the echo of creation within the wind and shaped it into song. Through music, they learned to bend energy — not with brute force, but with resonance, balance, and emotion. Their power does not erupt like a warrior’s blade; it flows like a river, unseen yet unstoppable.

In Perfect World International, Bards walk the path between elegance and devastation. With strings of light and blades of sound, they command the battlefield as both artists and tacticians. Each note they play can heal allies or shatter enemies, each movement guided by rhythm rather than rage. Though they appear serene, their calm masks a power capable of awakening ancient dragons and stirring the heavens themselves.

Feared by those who misunderstand them and admired by those who witness their craft, Bards fight not for chaos, but for harmony. And when their final crescendo echoes across the field, even the fiercest foes learn that music can be the sharpest weapon of all.

  • The new class is of the race Tideborn and will be available within the character selection screen for you to play!

Peformance & QoL - Client adjustments

This section of the patch notes will be dedicated to client-optimizations, known-bug fixes and performance optimizations. We've worked quietly for months on all reported issues, crashes and listened to all wishes in regards to QoL. After certain issues were detected, they lead to other client related flaws which lead to further minor issues that in some cases have build up and resulted to various player-individual crashes in very specific situations. Detecting and fixing these issues had a domino-effect, which lead to providing stability beyond anything that is known on PWI itself. After updating your clients to V13 you will definitely notice the impact all these minor corrections and performance adjustments had on Evolved PW. You will notice a more stable, very smooth running client that will surpass all previous patch-releases by far. More details can be seen below:

Anisotropic Filter

Anisotropic Filter is a 3D graphics technique that significantly sharpens textures on surfaces viewed at steep, oblique angles. The examples below will demonstrate what the terrain, certain areas looked before and how they look now.

Before:

After:

Body-rendering

Body- rendering optimizations have lead to a variety of polished models, a more appealing look and far more realistic appearance on many models available in the game. We'll only name one of the most recently added, which is:

Wildwalker - Ape form:

This is how the Ape form looks now on max. graphics. A clearly visually more appealing look of the transformation, that will reflect on many other models displayed on Evolved PWI.

Facial Movements (Character Creation)

Facial movements upon character creation were non existent previously. We have adjusted this issue properly and it should look a lot better now, far more realistic and overall more dynamic, as you can move your characters facial expression as shown below

Fashion - Rendering

Fashion is a big aspect of the game, and we all want to have the best look for our char. Sometimes the game-itself doesn't allow a certain quality by relaying on out-dated rendering methods, which can lead to antiquated visualizations of fashion sets. This is a global change, that will apply to all fashion on Evolved PWI and should be a huge visual impact as well as a huge impact on your gaming experience on Evolved PW. You may check out the comparison of before and after below:

Before:

After:

Skills missing Effects

After the Wildwalker release we noticed that certain skills were missing their effects. After looking into this case we figured out the missing aspects of various skills and addressed the issues accordingly. You may check out a presentation of before and after below:

Before:

After:

After:

Neverfall - Map (Zoom)

You can now zoom into the Neverall - Map. This is just the beginning of various adjustments that will follow Neverfall and Western Steppes overall in the upcoming patches:

Map texture

Most of you have noticed, that certain Areas have terrain issues, displaying random terrain texture in places they either don't belong at all or only partially. A visual presentation can be seen below:

Before:

After:

Shield Percentage

Perfect World has til date kept a very weird display of shield buffs in form of large chunks of digits that usually can't be really followed during PVP nor properly understood. We have corrected that now as displayed below:

It should be a lot easier to simply follow a clear, improved (font wise) percentage based display of all sort of shield-buffs.

  • Changed font of perecentages and countdown digits on buffs and debuffs to be more clear.

Shop - Previewing

An often requested feature was being able to preview various item models (Mounts, Flights, Pets and especially Company pets - which weren't available at all) that is far easier than our previous method requiring you to always press on the mount then on the preview button. This adjustment allows a fluent and visually more appealing and comfortable display of your beloved mounts, flights and pets. This method has also allowed to display for the first time Battle Pets and Company Pets within the Cubi and Event shop:

Constellation Skills

Often requested & reported, often attempted to finally get fixed but never succeeded. Thats our story with the Constellation Skills until the launch of Evolved PWI - 1.8.3 Expansion as we are very confident that the following QoL will definitely address this issue properly and fix all known issues of the Constellation Skills permanently.

We used the cool-looking hotkey on the skillbar of the completely unnecessary infant system that PWI has added and re-shaped it to function to our needs:

In order to display this new hotkey you must have a fully Dragon's Cove Orb imbued Constellation Orb - Making the skill available for use. That will automatically enable/place the skill on your skillbar.

Skill Cooldowns

Skill cooldowns can now be displayed on the skillbar itself. Instead of guessing by the visual display of a cooldown, you may now follow a skills cooldown based on a digit-displayed method shown below:

Inventory Cooldowns

We also enabled the digit-display of cooldowns of items such as charms, pills, pots etc within the various storage sections of Perfect World:

Due to items having big stacks the storage cooldown is dinstinctly position on top of the items icon and colored differently than the stack digit color.

Terrain Texture - Rendering

Perfect World is notorious for bad rendering of terrains and usually looks very buggy on certain maps and terrains. We have globally fixed this issue and enabled a more advanced rendering option that will definitely benefit the clients peformance enabling a smoother, unhindered peformance, stabilized FPS and generally smoother gameplay.

Trees model

Perfect World has always been known for its grey, paperish, lifeless trees that caused a rather unpleasant environment. We've fixed this issue by re-working their tree models adding more life to the game on a global scale. The intention behind this upgrade is to absorb more color from the light source, changing in dependance of the day/night light cycle.

These images are very big so we recommend clicking on the image in order to enjoy the full visual impact.

Skill kill animation (PvE)

A lot of skills, especially mult-hit skills are often delaying their display of damage or generally animation of the cast while killing/over-killing an none-player target. This was corrected now to display the kill real time - just like in PvP.

Before:

After:

V-Sync - Lock

V-Sync will now properly lock your FPS not allowing unwanted fluctuation of frames per second:

New Setting Option(s)

We've added new options within everyones configuration menu:

  • Enable/Disable cooldowns displayed on your skills in your skillbar
  • Enable/Disable cooldowns displayed on your items within your storage(s)
  • Enable/Disable NPC camera zoom during a Quest-dialogue

New Actions

The Skill interface (Press E) will now have 2 new actions available:

  • Toss Coin
  • New Dance

Quest-log Interface

Anecdote Button

You will now be able to access Anecdote within the Questlog interface

Timed Quest(s)

Timed quests, that will reward you with an item can now be completed within the Questlog interface:

Possible Rewards

The Quests within the Questlog will now also display possible rewards and main rewards (These rewards are now displayed in separated rows):

Possible Rewards:

Quest Rewards:

Tracked Quests

You may now see precisely which quests you are tracking within the Questlog Interface:

Tracked Quest - Menu

Actively tracked quests are now better separated to avoid a clustered look for clearer appearance:

Aerogear Forges

The Aerogear forges are probably the most often requested fix/adjustment since the beginning of the server. We've finally managed to re-arrange, organize and filter all flights that were available or unavailable in the shop(s), game or events.

All Flights available within the 3 Forges are by 100% available within our 2 shops (Event and Cubi shop). They will have identical icons and names but right-clicking your purchased flight in your inventory going through all icon-identical flights will eventually result in allowing your flight to finally get upgraded. IF there are flights you may possess but can't seem to upgrade within the Forges located in Thousand Streams, please make sure to file a proper report on our Discord. Thanks in advanced, we will update these forges gradually within the upcoming patches on Evolved PWi.

Vyn Ren, The Trainer

Vyn Ren, the Trainer (Skill Book NPC) was re-worked now and separated into 3 NPCs:

  • Vyn Ren the Demon Trainer - providing you with all demon versions of your skills
  • Vyn Ren the Sage Trainer - providing you with all sage versions of your skills
  • Vyn Ren the Skills Reverter - reverting miss-crafted skills

Missing revertable skills from Wildwalker were added to Sacred of Cauldron in Primal World, Kirin Town.

Custom Dungeons & Arigora
(Stuck in terrain & can't summon pets)

We have adjusted all custom Dungeons and Arigora Arenas fixing the issues that lead to characters being stuck at certain spots in MM, UDC etc. We've also fixed the issue within Arigora Arena that didn't allow certain classes to spawn their pets (regardless of skill summonings or general pet summoning). A visual presentation of our correction can be seen below:

Bugs & Fixes

Beside the overall fix for a majority of bugs, crashes and client issues listed within the Patch Notes section above, there are also few specific fixes that require addressing within the notes:

Faction Storage

  • Out of Sync - Error should be now fixed

Title Menu

  • Fixed an issue where the title interface didn't automatically select a serach filter when being opened for the first time
    • This bug has caused previously titles to not appear unless a filter was manually selected
  • Fixed Advanced Titles to be listed properly

Faction Recruiting

  • Notifications when a player applies to a Faction were added in the following segments of the game:
    • Chat, Guild application button, mail - notification
  • This should prevent missing anyone applying to your guild

Undercurent Hall

  • Fixed the lighting in UCH

Company Pet position

  • Company Pets position to the player was now increased to avoid company pets going into the players model
